Are all CVs get accepted into the ExpertFuze database?
No. Anyone can create a CV, but to ensure a high level of quality, all submitted CVs will undergo a thorough verification (see below).
How does verification work?
In step one of the verification process, the ExpertFuze team of engineers and lawyers will examine your CV to determine if your CV will be:
- Made public on expertfuze.com, but listed in an “unverified” state;
- Temporarily disallowed for having an incomplete CV; or
- Immediately rejected.
In step two of the verification process, the ExpertFuze team of engineers and lawyers will formally verify the credentials and skills of the “unverified” CVs. Expert CVs that pass this process will be listed as “Verified”.
What happens if my CV has been temporarily disallowed?
We will ask you to provide more information about certain section(s) of your CV. After you submit the requested information, your resume will be reentered into step one of the verification process (see above).
What happens if my CV has been rejected?
Your resume will not be displayed on the ExpertFuze site and your account will be deleted thirty days following rejection.
Why can a CV be rejected?
A CV will be rejected for conflicting information found in confirming various background and skill data with universities, employers, and certification agencies. If such information is found, we will let you know so that you can get the data corrected, if possible.
If my CV has been rejected, can I challenge this decision?
No.
Database (back to top)
What is the online database? How does it work?
The online database is a collection of expert CVs. Due to the detailed information that is required to create a CV on ExpertFuze.com, employers are able to precisely find the experts they need quickly and easily.
What is ExpertConnect?
ExpertConnect is an anonymous messaging system moderated by ExpertFuze that allows employers to ask experts questions before purchasing their contact information.
Custom Searches (back to top)
What are custom searches?
If an employer is not able to quickly and easily find an expert in our database, the employer can request that we perform a custom expert search to find the exact expert the employer needs. ExpertFuze employees are specifically trained for expert searching and are uniquely qualified to find all types of experts. Our search will be customized to your needs.
What is the cost of a custom expert search?
The initial request for an expert is completely free. We will perform our search and you will be able to see a limited view of our results organized in a spreadsheet. You only pay to unlock the spreadsheet and obtain the expert's contact information. After purchasing, we will continue working with you at no extra charge until you find the expert you need.
How are ExpertFuze’s custom expert searches different from other expert search services?
Other expert services tack on an hourly surcharge (usually 20%) to an expert’s hourly rate without providing any on-going benefit beyond putting you in contact with the expert. In contrast, ExpertFuze charges employers a one-time fee for an expert’s contact information. After only a few hours of the expert’s time, the employer saves money for every hour the expert works. This then allows experts not to have to lower their rates to compensate for the traditional search service surcharge.
What is the process for a custom expert search?
- Employer requests a search on our custom expert request form.
- Within 24 hours, ExpertFuze will translate the employer’s expert request into a spreadsheet which the employer will be able to use to compare experts that ExpertFuze finds.
- The employer can edit the spreadsheet to further instruct ExpertFuze what qualifications or skills are required.
- When the spreadsheet is finalized, ExpertFuze will translate the spreadsheet into a set of questions it will use to send to potential experts. Questions generally deal with specific questions on an expert’s particular skills and qualifications.
- ExpertFuze will perform the custom search and request answers to the employer’s questions from each of the experts it finds that match the employers requirements.
- 2-3 days after the expert search request is submitted, ExpertFuze will send the employer a preliminary set of search results in the approved spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will contain the expert’s answers to the questions posed by ExpertFuze.
- Employers review the search results and can either purchase the contact information of the experts found or have ExpertFuze further refine the search. Employers only pay if they like any of the experts found. There are no recurring hourly charges to ExpertFuze for working with ExpertFuze experts.
Getting Contacted by an Employer (back to top)
When will the ExpertFuze database be open to employers?
We are aiming for the expert database to be open to employers on July 1, 2010. In the meantime, experts are encouraged to submit their CV into the verification process as soon as possible so that when the database opens to employers, their resume is listed as “Verified”. Further, the ExpertFuze full-service search is already available to employers.
How often will I be contacted by employers?
That depends on many factors and will vary depending on employer including:
- The quality of expert you are.
- The cost of expert you are.
- How detailed your resume is.
- How well you have described your skills.
- How responsive you are to ExpertConnect messages.
What types of work will I receive?
We expect that the ExpertFuze database and manual search will be used by multiple types of employers including businesses, law firms, and other individuals. The work you receive will likely revolve around the skills you list in the Skills section of your CV.
What do I need to begin work?
You will need to sign a consulting agreement or other employment contract with your employer.
For more information on consulting agreements, see our Elements of an Expert Consulting Agreement Blog Series.
Are there any security measures I can take before accepting a position?
Read your consulting agreement thoroughly. Visit the employer’s website to judge credibility of the company.
Can I tell the employer I am not looking for work at the moment?
How do I get paid?
A properly written consulting agreement will include the payment process.
Does ExpertFuze screen employers?
Not at this time.
